The tax paid to the appropriate government department for the property sale agreement and the property purchase agreement is known as stamp duty. Stamp duty is levied in Maharashtra in accordance with Schedule – I of the Maharashtra Stamp Act. The amount typically ranges from 3 to 6 percent of the total market value. After the stamp duty has been calculated, you can easily pay it using the online GRAS, or Government Receipt Accounting System. This can be found online at the following link: https://gras.mahakosh.gov.in/igr/frmIndex.php on the IGR Maharashtra website.
Here, you have the option of paying with or without registering on the GRAS website. You can also choose to pay only stamp duty, only registration fees, or both stamp duty and registration fees. Note that you will have to select the correct district of the property, the office of the relevant sub-registrar’s office, as well as the type of property document.
