Faridabad – one of the largest cities in Haryana and a part of National Capital Regions– this place is among leading Industrial Hubs which incessantly heading towards economic enlargement. Shaikh Farid, a Sufi saint laid the foundation of Faridabad in the year 1607. Popularly known as “Baba Farid,” he was also the treasurer of famous Mughal Emperor – Jahangir.
With the aim to protect Grand Trunk Road, this city was established initially and subsequently declared as Headquarters of “Pargana” – a Mughal establishment. Originally, Faridabad was a part of Gurgaon, later on, 18th August 1979 it was declared as a separate district and 12th district of Haryana.
Large scale industries like Whirlpool, Escorts, Lafarge, Imperial Auto Pvt. Ltd., Yamaha, Bhartia Cutler Hammer, Havell’s, Khaitan are being operated from this place. Currently, around 25000 small scale industries operating from Faridabad, making it an Industrial hub.
A whopping 50% of income tax collected in Haryana comes from Faridabad. From Agriculture sector, Henna production is most famous being the largest exporter of it and is a primary producer of motorcycles, refrigerators, tractors, tyres, and shoes, etc. as industrial products. A self-sustained sub-city with wide roads has been established as Greater Faridabad with Sector 66-74 as Industrial ones, and Sector 75-89 are for residential purposes.
Adding more stars to its pride, Faridabad brags about famous malls, schools and institutes, healthcare services, residential apartments, plots and houses, and all basic facilities, amenities and places for entertainment. Ansal Crown Plaza, Eldeco Station Mall, and SRS Mall are among famous malls in Faridabad. While best health service centers and hospitals include Fortis Escorts, Metro Heart Institute, Asian Institute of Medical Science and many more.
The city is also the destination of famous cricket stadium – Nahar Singh Stadium which has the seating capacity of 25, 000 people and has hosted around 8 International Cricket Matches so far. Plus, it has also hosted Celebrity League Cricket Match between Mumbai Heroes and Bhojpuri Dabangg.
Some of the favorite tourist spots include Badkhal Lake, Baba Farid’s Tomb and Suraj Kund Tourist Complex. A man-made embankment, this lake is surrounded by Aravalli Hills. Another picturesque spot is Peacock Lake which is in the vicinity of it. Baba Farid is a popular pilgrimage spot for this town. Surrounded by Rock cut, deep Suraj Kund represents – Rising Sun. An ideal picnic spot. In the month of February, a magnificent Handicraft and handloom fair held where skilled artist from all over country showcase the rich craftsmanship of India.
After Delhi, Noida, and Gurgaon, it’s Faridabad that has pulled tremendous attractions and interests of builders and investors to invest in real estates. Faridabad has come up a long way to become a promising city and is in the process of further development. Probably this is the reason Faridabad is included in the second list of smart-cities project in India.
With NH2, passing through the middle of the district, Faridabad gives an easy route to the travelers traveling to Agra or Delhi. Situated on the broad gauge of New Delhi- Mumbai Line, Hazarat Nizamuddin Railway Station is just 25kms away from Old Faridabad Railway Station. Delhi Metro Violet Line connects Delhi with Faridabad. With the proximity of 35 Km, Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal is accessible from Faridabad.
Positive sides of its location being the capital city – Delhi which borders it from North, and Noida at its North-East. While Greater Noida is to its East, Gurgaon, yet another national capital region, is to its West. Faridabad, no doubt, has strong and powerful neighbours in all aspects.
